Stephanie from the fantastic home (and event!) decor shop Cre8tive Designs 4 U sent me a message recently and I offered a video critique to help her improve her shop. If you are new and/or struggling with low sales, take a look:
Ratings (1 bad, 10 fab):
Shop Banner – 8
–> I think it’s nice, made well and wouldn’t affect sales in a negative way. To improve it I think you could add a couple product images or choose a logo that speak more on what you make.
Welcome Message – 7
–> Make another paragraph so the main part is not so long to read. Also add your links if you have any. You should be promoting in various places. I started a thread on Etsy yesterday to help with that, HERE.
Policies - 10
–> Skimming through, they look very well thought out and detailed. People usually don’t read them all but it’s professional to have them present and well written.
Profile - 3
–> It’s a start but but I’d love to know more about you, your work, inspirations, likes and dislikes, the materials you like to use etc.
Descriptions - 6
–> As I mentioned in the video, make sure to change the “shipping NOT included in price” which is just a typo but a detrimental one. You could also add something to excite a potential buyer about owning the item.
Photographs - 6
–> The quality of the items do shine through but you should work on reshooting and restyling photos, showing close up details and brightening them up. This is the most important thing you need to do if you want to increase sales and it will help you greatly if you can apply it asap.
Final Thoughts: Get yourself out there promoting the Christmas items because with time ticking away, you have to make people more aware of them otherwise you will have to keep them, resell them next year or end up selling them for very low. Also, again I really think if you start branding your shop as the “go to” place for event decor, you could have a huge hit on your hands. I wish you the much success!

Wonderful advice! I’ll be sure to keep my eye on this store and add to my faves.
